Player Bio

An old-fashioned classy opener, Matt Thomas Renshaw is a professional cricketer for Australia who was born in Yorkshire and moved with his family to Australia at the age of 10. Renshaw became the youngest batsman for Queensland to score a century in the Sheffield Shield.

The Yorkshire-born opener was called up to the Australian Test squad at the age of 20 to partner up with David Warner at the top of the order. He made his Test debut in November 2016 and scored 71 runs on home soil in Brisbane. Batting for form in the 2018-19 Sheffield season, the 25-year old was sidelined from the Test side due to the lack of consistency and eventually lost the central contract.

Renshaw was signed by Brisbane Heat prior to the seventh edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). He solidified his position in the squad after a fantastic knock of 90 from just 50 balls against Strikers and also proved to be a useful part-time spinner. Having signed for the Strikers this season, he would be hoping to find back form for a new franchise after a disappointing BBL season last year.
