Player Bio

A gritty middle-order batsman, Roshen Silva is a professional cricketer for Sri Lanka who has been one of the most dominant cricketers in the domestic circuit.

Silva started his promising career long back in 2006 at just 17 years of old and made his way into the Sri Lankan U-19 team on the basis of his domestic performances. A late-bloomer to international cricket, Silva earned a callup to the Sri Lankan senior side in December 2016 after ten years of making his domestic debut.

The 33-year old batter made his Test debut against India on December 2nd, 2016 and was dismissed on a duck in his first innings but bounced back to score his maiden international fifty in just the second innings of his Test career. In February 2018, Silva registered his maiden international century in a Test match against Bangladesh. During the Test series, he went on to become the fifth batsman to register four fifty-plus scores in his first five Test innings of his Test career and became the only Sri Lankan to achieve the feat.

Yet to make an international appearance since January 2019, Roshen was named in Sri Lanka’s side for their Test series against West Indies in November 2021. After two years out of the international circuit, he would be hoping to make an impact if given an opportunity to revive his fallen career.
