Liam Livingstone hasn’t played too much cricket for England but is one of the most destructive batsmen in the county circuit. Having made his first-class debut for Lancashire in 2016, Livingstone has established himself in the first-class circuit and already scored nearly 3000 runs at an average of 40. He has a sensational strike rate of 141 in all T20s which makes him a good option for the franchises in the T20 tournaments across the globe.
Livingstone had a sensational start to his first-class career when he smashed 70 against Nottinghamshire. He was instrumental in leading Lancashire to an 8 wickets victory in that particular match. In the next year or so, Livingstone started taking giant strides and established himself as a clean hitter. Owing to his T20 exploits, Livingstone was rewarded with a maiden international cap against South Africa in 2017.
He didn’t make much of an impact and returned with scores of 16 and 0. Touted as one of the most destructive batsman in England, Livingstone had hogged the limelight as a 21-year-old when he had smashed 350 of just 138 deliveries in a club match for the Nantwich. Barring his batting qualities, Livingstone is an impressive part-time option and has chipped in with nearly 40 wickets in his first-class career.
Primarily a white-ball player, Livingstone bagged his first IPL contract when he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2019 IPL Auctions. He played a few matches and showed glimpses of his prowess with a knock of 44 off 26 deliveries against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was overlooked from the XI once Ben Stokes returned. Given his six-hitting abilities, Livingstone should be an asset for any T20 franchise.
In 2019, the right-handed batsman signed a contract with Perth Scorchers for the ninth edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) and played a vital role scoring 425 runs. In the 10th edition of the said Australian league, he scored 426 runs helping Scorchers reach the final of the tournament.
Livingstone’s performance in the BBL10 helped him secure a berth for the 14th edition of the IPL as he was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the February 2021 auction at Chennai.
The player was sidelined for the Test series against India at the start of the year (2021), but Eoin Morgan’s masterplan for the 2021 World T20, got him a recall for the T20I series.
