Player Bio

Born on January 2, 1991, Swapnil Singh is a left-arm spinner and a handy batter, who plays for Uttarakhand in the Indian domestic circuit.

At the age of 14 years and 355 days, the uncapped cricketer made his First-Class debut for the Baroda state team in 2006. In a couple of years, he forayed into the other two formats as well.

Interestingly, Swapnil was one of the 25 probables for the 2008 U-19 World Cup, but couldn’t make the final cut to the main squad of the eventual champion team.

He could not produce many noteworthy performances over the next 10 years to cement his place in the Baroda side. However, his figures of 6/19 against Saurashtra in the 2014-15 edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy brought him back into contention. Then, the following year saw him contributing with 70 runs and eight wickets in as many appearances.

The decent performances earned Swapnil a contract with the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for the 2016 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he could secure only a solitary wicket in six matches for the team until the 2017 season.

The 2017-18 Ranji Trophy witnessed him producing his best season in both departments. He amassed 565 runs to be the highest run-getter for Baroda and picked 20 wickets in six appearances.

It was the 2023 edition of the IPL, wherein the left-arm spinner made his return in the cash-rich league while playing his trade for the Lucknow Super Giants.
