Anmolpreet Singh plays for Punjab and also the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Anmolpreet Singh plays for Punjab and also the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He first came into the picture in the 2016 U-19 World Cup where he scored 116 runs from three matches including a 72-run knock against Sri Lanka in the semi-finals. Eventually, India ended up runners-up to the West Indies.
It was only in the next season that the right-handed batsman got to make his first-class debut against Himachal Pradesh. He hit the right notes immediately by scoring 753 runs from five matches at an average of 125.50. In the 2018-19 season, Anmolpreet had a dip in form during the Ranji Trophy but did really well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy by making 314 runs in three matches. After some decent performances in the Deodhar Trophy, he featured in some India A matches against New Zealand and the England Lions.
In India A game against Sri Lanka A in 2019, Singh scored a quickfire 85 of a mere 46 balls and shared a 125 run stand for the second-wicket alongside Rituraj Gaikwad. The match was marred by rain, but Singh sizzled under pressure.
Singh was picked up by Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2019, but did not feature in any of the matches.
He was a part of the Mumbai Indians squad last season, but again did not feature in the tournament, as MI were stacked in the middle order.
A promising young player, Singh has played some great innings under pressure, especially at the India A level. He has shown the temperament that is needed to survive at the highest level, and will be hoping for that one breakout innings, that will actually change his life 360 degrees.
