Player Bio

An IPL winner, handy guy with ball in hand, and a lower-order batsman, Jagadeesha Suchith is another prolific talent from Karnataka’s cricketing culture. Suchith arrived at the Indian Premier League stage even before making his First-Class debut in 2015.

The all-rounder hailing from Karnataka has represented the state at U15, U17, U19, U22, U23 level, and also went on to play for the U19 South Zone team.

The Mysore-born slow left-arm orthodox bowler made his name in the 2014-15 edition of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL), where he finished as the highest wicket-taker with a dazzling economy of 5.53, to take Mysuru Warriors home.

After his success in KPL, the spinner attracted Mumbai Indians’ talent scouts on him, which led to Suchith’s maiden contract of the Indian Premier League for the 2015 edition. The clever all-rounder played 13 games for Mumbai in the 2015 season, where he took 10 wickets, to help his franchise clinch its second IPL title.

After an early success in the IPL, Suchith made his FC debut against Bangladesh A and took a six-for in the second innings on a Day-3 Mysore track. Post his FC debut, he became Karnataka’s go-to bowler but after Krishnappa Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal’s emergence  Suchith was seen warming the bench.

In 2019, Suchith replaced injured Harshal Patel in the Delhi Capitals, and got just a single game to showcase his skills. For the next season, Delhi traded him for Ravichandran Ashwin from King XI Punjab (now called Punjab Kings). In February 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Suchith in the mini-auctions ahead for the 14th edition of the league.

Jagadeesha Suchith is an all-round talent who can bowl a few, tonk down the order, and can be stationed in key areas of the field. With age on his side, there is still time for Suchith to polish his assets under the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan.
