Player Bio

Cameron Delport is an aggressive left-handed batsman from South Africa, has become a dangerous figure in T20 sides around the globe, after making an impact for Leicestershire in the T20 Blast. He has also been representing Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League and Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash.

Born in Durban, Delport made his domestic debut for KwaZulu-Natal back in 2009. However, his moment arrived in 2014, where he set a record opening-stand of 367* runs along with Morne van Wyk in a List-A match. Later that year, he played a brilliant cameo of a 9-ball 34 for the Dolphins against Chennai Super Kings during the Champions League 2014. The exploits in CL14 earned him the tag of a T20 agent, he travelled around the globe to provide his services.

The South African played for Lahore Qalandars during the inaugural edition of PSL and then signed a short contract with Leicestershire in 2016. The following year, he smoked a 59-ball T20 hundred that led the club to the quarter-final for the second time in 11 seasons. He also has experience playing in the Indian Premier League, Mzansi Super League, and the Big Bash League.

In 2019, Delport joined Essex on a UK Ancestry Visa for the T20 Blast, after penning down a two-year contract. He made his entry for Essex in some fashion, as he smashed a 38-ball ton in his very second game. The milestone was also the fastest for the club. In 2020, the South African played a key role in Karachi Kings’ title victory, while he signed a deal with Quetta Gladiators for PSL6.

Delport has been a T20 specialist for all his clubs across the globe. And his simple approach of “see the ball, hit the ball” makes him such a destroyer. Although, he has also been a decent performer in the first-class format.
