Player Bio

Another U-19 World Cup prodigy, Shimron Hetmyer rose to the limelight after leading the West Indies side to become the champions in 2016. Hetmyer is known for his explosive batting and it was his skills to take on the best bowlers in the world that caught the attention of Virat Kohli and the RCB team management. RCB paid Rs 4.20 crore for Hetmyer but sadly he could not match up the expectations the franchise had of him and the money he was bought for.

As a result of poor outings in the IPL 2019 where Hetmyer could manage to score only 90 runs from the matches, he was included in the team. RCB decided to release him before the auction for the IPL 2020. Delhi Capitals backed the talent and class of Hetmyer and decided to pay Rs 7.75 crore for him in the auction.

Hetymer would try to bury all the doubts surrounding his ability to perform under pressure in big tournaments such as the IPL when a lot is hinging on him for the team, and turn around his IPL career and provide the Delhi team with elusive stability in the middle order.
