Player Bio

A talented batsman in the shortest format of cricket, Chirag Suri is a professional cricketer for UAE who became the first Emirati player to appear in the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL). Born and brought up in Delhi, Chirag moved to UAE at the age of 10 and started playing age-group cricket to gradually progress into the UAE U-19 team.

The 26-year old featured in the U-19 2014 World Cup on home soil and scored a 50 against the gritty Blackcaps side. Chirag shot to prominence when he was roped in by the now-defunct Gujurat Lions prior to the 2017 edition of the cash-rich league. The Delhi-born opener made his ODI debut against West Indies on March 6th, 2018 and scored valuable 38 runs opening the batting for his side.

Since his debut, Chirag has gone on to become a regular in the Emirati’s limited-overs side particularly impressing in the shortest format of the game. After being named in UAE’s T20 World Cup side, he would be eager to prove his worth in this premier tournament.
