Player Bio

Known for his sharp leg-breaks, Mohit Rathee is a wrist spinner who can hit lusty blows with the bat. Born in Rohtak, Haryana, he surged up the ranks playing the U14, U16 level cricket for Services with renowned players such as Prabhsimran Singh.

His impressive performances at the grassroots level earned him his Ranji Trophy debut against Jharkhand in Jamshedpur, in December 2022. He impressed with 81-ball 69 on debut, a knock highlighted by five fours and three sixes. Batting at No.8, the young bloke countered the opposition to propel Services to 367 in the first innings.

With the ball in hand, the leggie scalped a couple of wickets in 34 overs despite conceding 144 runs. Although the game was won by Jharkhand, Rathee’s all-round show on debut stole the spotlight in the encounter.

On the back of his stellar show, Rathee earned an IPL contract with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Having been rejected in the trials in 2022, his second attempt turned out to be a successful one as PBKS roped in the all-rounder to serve as Rahul Chahar’s backup at his base price of INR 20 Lakhs.

With minimum T20 experience in Senior T20 competitions, Rathee made his debut against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in April 2023. He played as the third spinner in the side with a Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium strip being slow in nature. In the lead-up to IPL 2025, Rathee was snapped by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 30 Lakhs.

The Service all-rounder will be keen on stamping his authority in the glitterati league under the guidance of renowned names such as Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Phil Salt, etc.
