Player Bio

Sachin Baby is an aggressive left-hander and an occasional right-arm off-break bowler from Kerala, who has also captained his state team in the limited-overs format.

Baby made his first-class debut in 2009 against Andhra, but it took him five years to score his first century in the longest format. The southpaw played his first List-A game in February 2011 and made T20 debut later in the same year.

Over the years, he has evolved his game to become an integral part of the Kerala side. The all-rounder has also led his side in the shortest format.

In the 2012-13 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Baby struck an unbeaten 104-run knock off 70 deliveries in the quarter-finals to help his side reach the semifinals.

The all-rounder also played a vital role in Kerala’s 2018-19 Ranji Trophy campaign, where they got to the final-four of the tournament for the first time in the history.

On the back of hefty scoring in the domestic season, Baby’s services were acquired by Rajasthan Royal for the 2013 IPL season, but the all-rounder couldn’t impress much. After finding no buyers in the next two years, Royal Challengers Bangalore got him for the 2016 edition, where he played some important cameos. The Bangalore-based club sustained Baby for the next season. However, they released him and Sunrisers Hyderabad took him over for the 2018 edition of the tournament.

After being ignored in the last two seasons, RCB has again shown faith in Sachin Baby and snapped him ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League 2021. The Kerala’s all-rounder was in an impressive nick in the 2020-21 domestic season.
