Player Bio

An explosive batsman who hailed through the ranks from New South Wales’ system, Nic Maddinson. The left-handed batsman came in as a young prodigy and took no time to cement his spot.

Maddinson is known for his T20 miracles but he has been equally brilliant in the Sheffield Shield, of late, as well.

He is also a former Australia U19 cricketer who was part of the World Cup-winning team in 2010. Later that season, an 18-year-old Maddinson became the youngest NSW player to score a century on debut.

Since then, the southpaw has cemented his place in the NSW side and has also done some miracles with the bat. After consistently performing in the domestic circuit, he received his international cap when played a T20I against India at Rajkot in 2013. He played an impressive knock of 34 off 16, before getting bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
However, a stylish entry at the international stage was sufficient to bag a big-money contract from Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2014 IPL auctions. The top-order destroyer has also been a pivotal part of the Sydney Sixers for a long time, before shifting to Melbourne.

Maddinson won his first Steve Waugh Medal as the NSW Blues Player of the Year in 2015-16, when he notched 380 runs at 63.33, including centuries against the Cricket Australia XI and Tasmania

After that excellent performance in the domestic circuit, Maddinson was given a go at the Test level, making his debut in the home series against South Africa during the Adelaide Test. It was a three-match stint in the Test team in which he only averaged 6.75. Thus, he was later dropped from the side.

Over the years, Maddinson has provided his freelance services to Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2016 and has played Surrey County Cricket Club in the 2018 Vitality Blast. In 2017-18, the top-order batter got associated with Melbourne Stars, before signing a three-year contract with the Renegades in 2021.

Of late, Maddinson’s numbers have been astonishing. He was the leading run-scorer in the Sheffield Shield during 2019-20 and has started the 2021-22 season with the same fire. And he would be eyeing to bag another baggy green and fulfil his dream of performing in the Ashes.
