Musheer Ahmed Khan

Musheer Ahmed Khan is a young and promising Indian cricketer who has been grabbing headlines recently for his impressive performances at the Under-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa. He is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls left-arm orthodox spin. He is known for his dedication and commitment to training, focusing on both batting and bowling skills.

Hailing from Mumbai, Musheer started playing cricket at a very young age, following in the footsteps of his elder brother, Sarfaraz Khan.

He holds the record for being the youngest player to participate in the Kanga League at the age of eight.

Musheer played age-group cricket for Mumbai and eventually made his First-Class debut in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23. The Mumbai batter enjoyed a sensational all-round season in the Cooch Behar Trophy, where his 670 runs and 32 wickets won him the Player of the Tournament award. It was followed by a triple-hundred in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy 2022-23 against Hyderabad. 

In the Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2023, Musheer was the fourth-highest run-getter with 438 runs in nine innings. He also topped the wicket-taking charts in the season with 22 dismissals in nine matches.

The prodigy played for India A U-19 in the Quadrangular series in November 2023. He emerged as a star performer for his side in the final, slamming a 47-ball 127 against India B U-19. He was also among the top scorers and leading wicket-takers, ending the tournament with 322 runs and 12 scalps against his name.

He received his maiden U-19 cap in the Asia Cup 2023 and scored a fifty against Bangladesh in the semi-final. He claimed a fifer versus South Africa U-19 in the tri-series leading up to the 2024 World Cup, where he became only the second Indian batter to score two centuries in a single edition of the competition.

All of this was made possible by Naushad Khan, Musheer’s father, who himself played club cricket for Mumbai and has been a constant source of support and guidance while also playing the role of a coach.

All in all, a massive future lies ahead of the Kurla-born cricketer.
