Player Bio

Hailing from Chester, Benjamin James Gibbon suffered many hardships at a young age, working as a construction site worker in his late teenage life and is now living his dream of being a professional cricketer with Worcestershire.

After starting his career as a left-arm seamer, Cheshire roped him up in 2018 and has gone on to represent them in 9 championships, 4 Knockout Trophy, and 7 T20 games.

The 22-year-old scalped 33 victims in the 2021 season of the Cheshire County League Premier Division whilst playing for the team from Oulton Park and winning the award for the bowler of the season.

Kabir Ali, the Worcestershire coach, caught a glimpse of this young speedster there and offered him two games for the Worcestershire Second XI against Leicestershire and Yorkshire, where he impressed every person of Worcestershire's top management.

The young seamer's brilliant five-for for Chester against Wiltshire in the 2021 edition of the National Counties Cricket Championship was enough for him to pen down a two-year professional contract with Worcestershire in September 2021.

The paceman made his First-Class debut for Worcestershire on May 5, 2022, against Durham in the 2022 edition of the County Championship Division Two. The lanky paceman had a decent match as he picked up two key wickets.

Gibbon's journey from grinding hard on the construction site to chasing dreams on the cricket field is the true inspiration for every budding athlete.
