Player Bio

Gouher Sultana is a slow left-arm orthodox specialist bowler. She was born on March 31, 1988 in Hyderabad, Telangana. And eventually went on to represent the Hyderabad Women’s team in the domestic circuit. She has played for India Women, India Under-21 Women, UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League, and many more teams.

Hyderabad is popular for producing cricketing talents, and her early exposure to the sport helped her crack her foundation. Sultana’s domestic career is marked by consistency and determination.

Sultana continued to showcase her prowess, in the 2015–16 Senior Women's Cricket Inter Zonal Three-Day Game, she topped the bowling chart with 18 wickets across four matches, boasting an exceptional average of 10.22. Her standout performance in this series included remarkable figures of 6/46, underscoring her dominance in the domestic circuit.

Fate smiled, during the Women's Asia Cup in Kurunegala, where Sultana made her international debut in a WODI match against Pakistan on May 5, 2008. Her introduction to the international arena was marked by her effective spin bowling, which soon became a cornerstone of India's bowling attack. She has played over 50 WODIs and 35+ WT20Is, showcasing her zeal and composure.

Sultana’s cricketing career seemed cloudy, but the announcement of WPL helped her resurgence of her career. Sultana was signed for INR 30 lakh at the WPL 2024 Auction.
