Player Bio

Saurav Dilipsingh Chauhan is an Indian domestic cricketer. He is a left-handed batter and occasionally keeps the wickets as well.

Saurav’s cricketing story has his father as one of the protagonists. A fireman who works as the groundsman at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad, Dilip Chauhan shaped up his son’s future, admitting him to an academy run by coach Tarak Trivedi when he was seven.

Saurav himself developed an interest in the sport, seeing the other kids train on the ground as he, along with his family, used to live in the stadium premises.

After honing his skills, Saurav made his way to the Gujarat state side, making his T20, List-A, and First-Class debuts in a matter of months between November 2021 and February 2022.

In only his second List-A outing, he tonked a hundred while playing against Vidarbha in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.

While Saurav was performing on and off, he realised his true potential in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. He emerged as Gujarat's top scorer, amassing 251 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 184.56.

The Ahmedabad-born did well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023, starting the tournament with a match-winning unbeaten 82-ball 108 versus Assam. He finished the season with a fifty, with his overall tally totalling 184 runs in six innings and strike-rate being 114.29.

After going unsold in the last two Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions, Saurav finally found a franchise for the 2024 season as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) acquired his services for INR 20 lakh.
