Player Bio

Hailing from Rohtak, Haryana, Nishant Sindhu is an Indian all-rounder who bats and bowls with his left hand. At the age of three, his father, Sunil Kumar, witnessed his left-handed stance when he threw a ball towards him.

In 2011, the day after India lifted the ODI World Cup, Nishant desired to become a professional cricketer and conveyed about his dream to his father. His first success came in 2017 when he amassed 290 runs and scalped 24 wickets for Haryana in the U-14 Dhruv Pandove Trophy held in Patiala. Soon he found himself in the Haryana U-16 team, where he scored 280 runs and claimed 16 wickets in the 2017–18 Vijay Merchant Trophy.

The Rohtak-born’s best came out in the 2018-19’s Vijay Merchant Trophy, where he led from the front to garner 572 runs and bag 23 wickets, leading his side to

lift the title by defeating Delhi in the final.

In 2021, the spin-bowling all-rounder led the Haryana U-19 team and won the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, their first U-19 title in 19 years.

Due to his eye-catching performances, Nishant was added to the Indian U-19 squad that played Asia Cup and World Cup in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

The southpaw impressed everyone in the U-19 World Cup with his adaptability. While Yash Dhull and Shaik Rasheed were infected with COVID-19, he led the Indian U-19 side against Ireland U-19 and Uganda U-19. His unbeaten fifty against England U-19 helped India U-19 to win the summit clash by four wickets.

Currently, the 18-year-old has been representing Haryana in all senior domestic competitions and recently, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) brought him for INR 60 Lakhs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auctions.
