Given Lakshan’s success in the last three years, he was awarded a professional contract from the Sri Lankan board in 2021. Known for his genuine leg-spin, Lakshan has nearly 100 wickets in domestic cricket. His domestic successes were rewarded by a callup to the national squad for the limited-overs series against India in July 2021. Whilst he didn't feature for Sri Lanka, his selection bears evidence of his promise, which has seen him dominate domestic cricket in the past few years.
