Player Bio

A highly-rated youngster, Sammu Ashan is a watchful top-order batsman and also delivers handy off-breaks. The 23-year old has made steady progress after playing in age-group cricket for Sri Lanka and has also represented in the U-19 World Cup.

From the Sri Lankan U-19 team, Ashan made it into the emerging side as well as the Sri Lanka A squad. He arrived at the domestic circuit in 2016 making his debut in both first-class and List A cricket. Selected to play in the 2019 South Asian Games, the pacer won the Silver medal after losing to Bangladesh in the finals.

With over 100 domestic appearances, Ashan is yet to make his international debut even after churning out runs at an impressive average of over 46 in domestic first-class cricket. Known for his solid defence, he likes to spend time on the crease with the bat in hand and his maturity level makes him quite a candidate to don the Sri Lankan jersey in red-ball cricket.
