A gutsy left-handed batsman, Sangeeth Cooray is a Sri Lankan cricketer who made his first-class debut for Saracens Sports Club in the 2015-16 Premier League Tournament.
Cooray eventually struggled for a place in his domestic side due to poor form. But the solid-looking batter resurrected his sinking ship and started to pile on runs for fun. Till now, Cooray has amassed 2896 first-class runs at an average of 41.37.
Post-2018, Cooray got the deserved recognition from the domestic teams. In March 2018, he was a part of the Dambulla squad for the 2017-18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. A month later, he was again a part of the Dambulla team for the 2018 Super Provincial One-Day Tournament.
So far, Cooray has jotted down decent numbers in the List-A matches. The southpaw has accumulated 1109 runs at an average of 36.96 in 31 matches.
His domestic numbers are impressive, but for some reason or the other, Cooray is yet to receive his maiden international call-up. He has all the tools to succeed as a Test opener.
