Player Bio

Born on June 7th, 1996, Sabbhineni Meghana is a right-handed opening batter who plays for Indian Railways. Her father was a divisional engineer in the NTPC who loved cricket. Earlier, she represented Andhra Pradesh and South Zone. The Krishna-born has represented India in six T20I games. 

Moreover, Meghana is an integral part of the India 'A' team. She started playing cricket when she was in seventh grade, where she was the only girl. Afterwards, she joined a cricket academy in Vijayawada, where girls used to practice. 

Her international ODI debut was against New Zealand on February 12th, 2022. She appeared in her T20I debut match against West Indies on November 20th, 2016. She featured against the West Indies in her debut match with a strike-rate of 106.25. 

The opener represented India in the 2016 Women's T20 Asia Cup, where the team remained victorious. She was the leading run-scorer in the 2021–2022 Women's Senior One Day Trophy, where she scored 388 runs, including two half-centuries and a solitary ton.

The Trailblazers cricketer was named as one of three reserve players in India's team for the 2022 Women's CWC n New Zealand, in January 2022.

The Andhra Pradesh cricketer believes that if she is able to improve her fitness she will be a better player. Therefore, she is currently working on her fitness with her coach Mantravadi Shalini.
