Player Bio

The son of the former Northants cricketer David Sales, James Sales is a professional English cricketer for the Northamptonshire County who signed his first professional contract with the County, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal that will see him at the Wantage Road till the end of the 2023 season.

After spending two years in the second division, Sales made his first-team debut in the 2021 Royal London Cup against Somerset in August 2021. A month later, the teenager made his first-class debut against Surrey on September 5th, 2021. Earlier in the summer, the 18-year old was named in the English U-19 squad for their white-ball series against West Indies but failed to make it into the playing XI.

Settling in with the senior side at such young age, Sales has made great strides in the last few years and it’s about time, he makes a breakthrough into the England Test squad.
