Player Bio

Luc Martin Benkenstein is a 17-year-old English cricketer born in Durban, South Africa. Benkenstein is an upcoming all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm leg break. Luk comes from a cricketing background. He is the son of ex-South African cricketer – Dale Benkenstein and grandson of Martin Benkenstein.

He made his List-A debut for Essex against Durham during the 2021 edition of the Royal London Cup. It was a rain-interrupted match which was cut short to 45 overs a side, and he finished with figures of 1/30 in his four overs. The South Africa-born all-rounder has regularly featured in Essex 2nd XI and has been very impressive in both departments. Benkenstein is a gun fielder and looks like an up-and-coming prospect for England in days to come.
