An exciting 18-year old prospect, Sonny Baker is a professional English cricketer who plays club cricket at Torquay Cricket Club and progressed through the Devon age-group system. A right-arm express bowler, Baker went on to make his National Counties debut prior to making his debut for the Somerset second XI.
Baker is the latest of a long line of players nurtured by Devon to step up to professional cricket with Somerset. He made his first-team debut in the 2021 Royal London Cup against Derbyshire and was phenomenal, picking up 3 wickets on his first senior appearance.
Having earned his place in the Somerset Academy, Baker’s work ethic and resilience saw him come a long way. He has displayed the character traits of someone who is highly motivated to develop his game and secure a spot across all three formats in the Somerset first-team.
