Player Bio

An upcoming wicket-keeper batsman, Alex Horton is a professional English cricketer for Glamorgan County. A product of the Glamorgan Academy, Horton signed a five-year long term deal with the Welsh County in 2020 but is yet to make his debut for the senior side but has featured heavily for the second string side of Glamorgan.

Horton became one of the youngest cricketers in Glamorgan’s history to make his debut for the second XI when he played for Gloucestershire and struck 58 runs on his debut. The 17-year old received his maiden call-up to the England U-19 side for their limited-overs side against West Indies.

A talented and mature cricketer, Horton’s progress from Newbridge County through the Welsh system is a welcome boost for Glamorgan who time to time have failed to field a significant number of homegrown players. At just 17 years of age, he has been described as a bright prospect and will take his record as Glamorgan's youngest gloveman, before potentially going on to higher honours.
