Player Bio

A bustling all-rounder, Mathew Waite has suffered a lot of injuries throughout his playing career which has baffled his domestic career over the past few seasons.

Waite started his playing career with Yorkshire and became an integral part of their limited-overs side. A right-handed batsman, with an ability to chip in with a gentle medium pace, Waite was named Yorkshire’s 'Young Player of the Year' in 2016.

The following year he scored his maiden List-A half-century, 71 off 58 balls against Warwickshire at Edgbaston and made his much-awaited first-class debut in the Championship. Waite suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of the second half of the 2017-18 County season.

In March 2019, in a match against Leeds/Bradford MCCU, Waite bagged his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

Waite is a promising youngster whose career was hampered with ankle injuries. A busy player at the crease, Waite’s ability to rotate the strike at will makes him a wily customer for his County side.
