Player Bio

A dashing right-handed batsman and a sharp gloveman, Joylord Gumbie is a professional cricketer for the Zimbabwe national team who made steady strides in the domestic structure to finally get a place in the national squad in July 2021.

The Harare-born stumper made his first-class debut playing for the Mashonaland Eagles against Midwest Rhinos on December 9th, 2013 in the Logan Cup. After his domestic debut, Joylord was part of Zimbabwe’s squad for the 2014 ICC U-19 World Cup.

His first international exposure came eight years after making his domestic debut when he was named as the standby player for Zimbabwe’s one-off Test against Pakistan. Selected to be part of the national group for the Bangladesh tour in July 2021, the talented wicket-keeper is hopeful for some game time to showcase his skills at the highest level and cement his spot in the promising Zimbabwe squad.
