Player Bio

Marie Kelly is an English cricketer who is currently the captain of Warwickshire and plays for Central Sparks and Birmingham Phoenix. She is a right-handed batter who has formerly represented England Under-19s. She is also a qualified coach and has a first-class degree in Sports Science. 

The Birmingham-born made her county debut in 2011 for Warwickshire against Cheshire. The following year, Kelly saw her best performance for Warwickshire was scoring 201* off 145 balls for Warwickshire U17 against Cheshire, followed by 110* the next day in a T20 against Worcestershire. Since then, she has been a regular in Warwickshire's first team. 

Kelly has been a part of the Emerging Players Programme, Women’s Academy and the Warwickshire Men’s Academy. She has also been part of the England U19 Development Programme where she made her debut against Sri Lanka Women in 2013. 

The Warwickshire player began her captaining career in 2015 when stood in for Rebecca Grundy, before becoming the permanent captain in 2016. Three years later, she led her side to victory in the Twenty20 Cup. 

Kelly also played in the Kia Super Super, as she represented Loughborough Lightning in 2017 and Southern Vipers in 2019. In 2020, Central Sparks named her in the squad for the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and she ended her side’s second-highest run-getter with 223 runs at an average of 55.75.

The following year, in 2021, when ECB’s very own The Hundred got underway, the Shrewsbury-born donned Birmingham Phoenix’s jersey.
