A tall and rapid fast-bowler, Tanaka Chivanga is a professional cricketer for the Zimbabwe national team who has mostly earned his stripes playing club cricket for Johannesburg.
A lower-order hitter, Chivanga is a tall seamer with a genuine pace that has made a huge mark on the Gauteng Premier League over the last few seasons. Clocking in at just a touch under 90mph, his 108 wickets at an average of 14 since 2017 for Delfos alone has caught the attention of his native Zimbabwe and at the start of the 2020-21 domestic season, he was offered a contract with the Mashonaland Eagles Franchise for the domestic season.
On his domestic debut against Mountaineers, the speedster collected 3/32 in the first innings which paved the path for making his way into the national team of the Minnows. Chivanga was added to Zimbabwe’s squad for the one-off Test series against Bangladesh in July 2021 but failed to break into the playing XI.
A genuine spearhead and a lower-order pinch hitter having a big arc and no trouble clearing the boundary, Chivanga hopes to ply his trade in club cricket in various domestic leagues around the world.
