Player Bio

The rapid left-arm pacer, Tangeni Lungameni is a professional Namibian cricketer who was a part of the U-19 setup for Namibia. Born in Gobabis, Lungameni moved to Windhoek to complete his higher studies and spent two seasons for the Namibian U-19 squad, including the 2011 World Cup Qualifiers.

The southpaw gradually progressed into the Namibian A squad, making his debut against Botswana in July 2015. A year later, he was promoted into the senior squad and made his first-class debut against Gauteng in January 2016.

One of the few black players to play at the senior level for Namibia, Lungameni is also the head groundsman for Namibia. With over 50 domestic appearances, the 29-year was first capped at the international level in May 2019, making his T20I debut against Ghana.

A specialist in the shortest form, the speedster has been named in Namibia’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Yet to make his international debut in the longer versions of the game, Lungameni would be hoping to showcase his skills at the premier tournament to earn a callup to the ODI side.
