Player Bio

A promising left-arm medium-pace bowler, Michael van Lingen is a Namibian cricketer who has risen through the age-group cricket before making his international debut for Namibia.

The speedster made a name for himself at the Under-19 level and was a part of the Namibian squad for the 2016 U-19 World Cup. He was one of the most promising players in the World Cup and also garnered praise from the cricketing community when he decided to walk off after being caught behind, despite the umpire not giving him out.

In September 2021, van Lingen was drafted into the Namibian squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He made his much-awaited debut against Papua New Guinea in the World Cup. In his debut game, van Lingen bowled only one over and conceded 10 runs as Namibia defeated PNG by 14 runs.

van Lingen has a bright future ahead of him and he could be the spearhead of the Namibian pace attack for years to come.
