Player Bio

An attack-minded batsman, Jamie Troughton is a former English cricketer who was born into a well-known British acting family and the son of David Troughton, a famous actor.

Jamie received his maiden callup to the English national team for the 2003 NatWest Series against South Africa and Zimbabwe after he outclassed his countrymen with some top-notch performance in first-class cricket winning the won the NBC Denis Compton Award in 2002. After six ODIs, Jamie managed to score just 36 runs and struggled with the bat quite often. Hence he was never selected for the senior team again.

Jamie was named Warwickshire captain for the 2011 season in November 2010. He captained Warwickshire to 2nd place in the 2011 County Championship, losing out on the title on the last day of the final game, with Lancashire finishing as champions. However, this disappointment was short-lived as he oversaw Warwickshire win the County Championship a year later.

A key figure in County cricket for Warwickshire, Jamie continued to rack up decent figures in the domestic circuit until 2014. A 15-year long career for his domestic side saw him feature in over 400 games. In August 2014, Jamie announced that he would be retiring, with immediate effect, because of a back injury. He returned back to cricket after a couple of years but this time as Warwickshire’s first-team coach in December 2016.
