Player Bio

An elegant top-order batsman, Nafees Iqbal is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who had a short stint at the international level, skippered the u-19 Bangladesh side in the 2002 ICC U-19 World Cup.

The Chittagong-born grabbed the attention of the national selectors when he struck a century against the visiting England side playing for Bangladesh A, and termed the English spinners poor when after smashing 112 at the age of 18. Nafees made his ODI debut against the same opponents on November 7th, 2003 and went on to make his Test debut against the Kiwis a year later in October 2004. In just his second Test match against New Zealand, he scored 49 runs, the highest by any Bangladesh player in the innings against a top-notch Kiwi bowling attack.

Nafees played a heroic inning against Zimbabwe producing his maiden international hundred, a match-winning inning of 121 at his home ground in Dhaka which secured Bangladesh their maiden series victory. Soon his downfall began and Nafees was dropped from the side after a horrific series against Australia in 2006. Nafees was later named as the Team manager for the Khulna Tigers after retirement from all forms of cricket.
