Player Bio

A tall medium-pacer, Mushfiqur Rahman is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who started his domestic career playing for the Rajshahi Divison in 1997.

His domestic career was not a very successful one and was lucky enough to break into the senior squad three years later. His passion and determination got the better of his skills and he made his first appearance for the national side on May 30th, 2000 against India in Dhaka. Rahman’s Test debut came a year later in the early days of Bangladesh Test status in April 2001 against Zimbabwe. Failing to pick wickets in the longer-formats saw the youngster sidelined from the squad.

After two years of regaining consistency in the domestic circuit, Rahman bounced back in 2003 in the limited-overs format, this time impressing everyone with his wicket-taking ability and handy lower-order batting skills. His career-defining moment came against England in the Test series and followed his good form in the ODI series where he was awarded as the Player of the Series for his explosive all-round performance.

Unable to maintain his form for a long time in both domestic and international format, Rahman played his last international fixture in 2004 but continued to play first-class matches until 2008 before he hung his boots from all forms of cricket.
