Player Bio

Brooke Halliday is a batting all-rounder who represents New Zealand on the world stage. She has come through the ranks and represents Northern Knights in the domestic circuit. A southpaw with the bat in hand and a right-arm seam-bowling, Halliday has all the ingredients to become a world beater.

Halliday grew up in a sporting family that led Halliday’s way towards cricket. She started playing as a five-year-old at the club level. However, her breakthrough moment came during the 2021 Hallyburton Johnstone Shield where she scored 331 runs with two half-centuries & a solitary ton in her eight outings. The all-rounder also bagged nine wickets during the tenure. Halliday’s domestic performance awarded her maiden call-up for the limited-overs series against England in February 2021.

The Hamilton-born carried her good domestic form into the warm-up clashes against the touring England side. She scored 26 and picked up a wicket in the first match, while she bettered her performance with the bat as she clubbed 79 runs in the second game.

Halliday was awarded her ODI cap when England toured in February and she celebrated it by scoring two back to back half-centuries. The all-rounder went wicketless on her debut but took a wicket each in her second and third outing. She made her first T20I appearance during the same tour and scalped her maiden T20I wicket in the form of Katherine Brunt in the third game of the series.

After an amazing debut series, the national selectors have named Halliday for the limited-overs series for the Australian series. The all-rounder would like to perform regularly and cement her spot in absence of Suzie Bates. Halliday is very young at the international level but she already has shown glimpses of brilliance in a short span.
