Player Bio

Nial Smith is an upcoming seamer for the West Indies from Guyana. He is a well-built medium-pacer who can do both, bowl with stream and also use variations to deceive batters of any class.

Born in 1995, the Guyanese pacer got his go when he debuted for Guyana in the 2019 Regional Super50 tournament. He had an ordinary tournament but returned in the following season to prove his finesse. In the 2020 edition, the seamer took eight wickets out of the five games he played at 20.25.

Smith’s performances were widely appreciated and later, he got the chance to play in the Best vs Best match contested by the West Indies Cricket Board.

Later in 2020, Smith made his first-class debut for his country in the 2019–20 West Indies Championship. He went on to play seven FC games to book 20 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls, at healthy average and strike rates.

The following year, the pacer was bought by Guyana Amazon Warriors to play in the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League, where he’ll share the dressing room with Nicholas Pooran, Shoaib Malik, Imram Tahir, Mohammad Hafeez and many others.
