Player Bio

Yash Ravisingh Thakur is an Indian domestic cricketer who plays for Vidarbha. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler.

Thakur made his name in domestic cricket as a death-overs specialist, bowling at just over 140 kmph. A product of India’s Under-19 set-up, he made his List-A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016-17.

The pacer, driven by his passion and dedication, continued to toil at the domestic level, making his way to First-Class cricket with his first appearance coming in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. In his T20 debut against Himachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2018-19, he claimed two wickets, showcasing his mastery in the slog overs.

The Kolkata-born player started to move ahead in his career, with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021-22 triggering his rise. In that particular season, he took 11 wickets at an economy of 5.95.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2011-22, Thakur's talent shone brightly as he emerged as the highest wicket-taker. He began the tournament with a fifer versus Himachal Pradesh and continued to add to his wickets throughout the competition, taking his tally to 18 by the end of the season, a feat that left everyone in awe.

Thakur’s white-ball numbers went on improving. He ended up being Vidarbha’s best bowler in SMAT 2022-23, putting 15 wickets in his kitty, joint fifth-highest overall in the season. In the quarter-final game against Delhi, he bowled a match-winning last over, defending nine runs. He took Vidarbha to the semis with his spell of 4-29.

A day before Lucknow Super Giants bought his services for INR 45 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction, he put out a red-ball masterclass, bagging his maiden First-Class five-wicket haul against Tripura in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23.

The speedster, with his exceptional skills, made his IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings in 2023. He snared four wickets versus Punjab Kings and troubled Mumbai Indians twice in the season, grabbing three wickets against them in the Eliminator. He finished his debut IPL season with 13 wickets in nine innings, leaving a mark with his performance.

The Vidarbha pacer took 40 wickets across formats in the 2023-24 domestic season and is in a good rhythm heading into his second IPL season.
