Born on February 25, 1996, Ajay Mandal is a left-arm spin all-rounder, who represents Chhattisgarh in the Indian domestic circuit.

Mandal made his First-Class debut in the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 match against Tripura. He managed to pick up a total of seven wickets and left a big impression on the management. 

Soon, the talented spinner got an opportunity in the List-A and T20 formats as well. Mandal rose to fame by slamming an unbeaten 241* against Uttarakhand in the 2019-20 edition of the Ranji Trophy. 

The 2021-22 edition of the Ranji Trophy witnessed him picking 10 wickets and scoring 147 runs. The 26-year-old garnered 64 runs and bagged five wickets in the 2022-23 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). 

It was his performance in the 2022-23 season of the Ranji Trophy, which put him in the sweet spot. Mandal is the leading wicket-taker for Chhattisgarh with 29 wickets and amassed 193 runs in five appearances. 

Chennai Super Kings sealed the deal for Mandal at a base price of 20 Lakhs in the IPL 2023 auction. Certainly, the skillful all-rounder has gradually enhanced his performance and would look to make full use of the opportunity. 

Mandal signed up for the Doncaster Town Cricket Club in the UK as an overseas player for the 2023 season.
