Player Bio

Tanay Thyagarajan is an Indian domestic cricketer who plays for Hyderabad. He is a left-arm orthodox spinner, and his lower-order batting is a valuable addition to his arsenal.

Tanay was born in Bangalore but grew up in Hyderabad, where he polished himself by toiling hard at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Cricket Academy.

Tanay's journey in cricket has been nothing short of remarkable. He made his mark in age-group cricket with his List-A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017-18. His talent was further showcased in his first T20 game in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017-18, and he earned his First-Class debut in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. He ended the year as the highest wicket-taker for Hyderabad, with 17 scalps in five matches.

Developing his skills with the bat, Tanay became a more than handy batter, primarily in red-ball cricket, smashing two half-centuries in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22.

Punjab Kings roped him in for INR 20 lakh in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction.

With an impressive 56 dismissals in 14 innings, Tanay was the leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24
