Player Bio

Called Neil Johnson in age-group cricket, Sanvir Singh is an Indian domestic all-rounder who plays for Punjab. Sanvir was used to open the bowling and batting, just like the former Zimbabwe all-rounder Johnson.

Sanvir’s explosive batting and medium-pace bowling set him apart, making him a rare gem in the Indian cricket scene.

Sanvir's career has been a rapid ascent. He made his List-A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19, and within months, he was breaking into Punjab’s Ranji team. His First-Class debut was a memorable one, as he smashed a century in his debut innings against Andhra Pradesh.

The multifaceted player, who has now transformed into a T20 dynamite, surprisingly had to wait three more years to make his debut in the format for Punjab. His maiden outing came in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2021-22.

Looking at his performance in SMAT 2022-23 where Sanvir scored 119 runs, including a 19-ball 55, at a strike-rate of 205.17, Sunrisers Hyderabad picked him up in the IPL 2023 auction for INR 20 lakh.

The Ludhiana-born played only two matches in the season but displayed his penchant for big hits, smashing Mohammad Shami for a six to open his account.

In Punjab T20 2023, he was the Player of the Tournament with 502 runs, the most in the competition, and 15 wickets.

In SMAT 2023-24, Sanvir was a force to be reckoned with. He blasted 142 runs at a strike-rate of 208.82, playing a crucial role in Punjab's triumph.

SRH retained him for IPL 2024, and the gun all-rounder will aim to replicate his domestic performances on the main stage.
