Player Bio

Mayank Dagar, an Indian domestic cricketer who plays for Himachal Pradesh and the nephew of former India opener Virender Sehwag, is a left-arm orthodox spinner and is no mug with the bat either, making a decent lower middle-order batter.

Dagar became known because of his exploits in the Under-19 World Cup 2015-16. He was the second-highest wicket-taker for India in the tournament after Avesh Khan. The Delhi-born claimed 11 scalps in four matches at an economy of 2.88.

This earned him a place in the Himachal Pradesh state team where he made his domestic debut, starting with List-A cricket in December 2015. He featured in a First-Class match almost a year later and finally stepped into the T20 arena in January 2017.

In July 2018, Dagar had shared his yo-yo test score of 19.3, which, reportedly, is the highest for an Indian cricketer.

Dagar then entered the Indian Premier League (IPL) fold as Punjab Kings, erstwhile Kings XI Punjab, gave him his first big break. He did not get to play a single IPL game up until 2023 when Sunrisers Hyderabad handed their INR 1.8 crore buy a debut.

The Delhi-born played only three matches in the season and took just one wicket. Hyderabad traded him to Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2024 edition of the tournament.
