Player Bio

A chinaman by traits, Jack Wood first emerged during the tenth edition of Big Bash League when signed by Brisbane Heat as a replacement for Mitchell Swepson. He is a master of extracting spin on any kind of surface, while his main weapons are flight and dip.

Known for his left-arm wrist-spin, Wood hails from Ipswich who began his journey playing for his school at U-16 level and later earned selection for the Queensland Under-15's side. He emerged through Queensland Premier Cricket.

Wood made his first-grade debut for the club in 2014 and during the Australian off-season, he played cricket in Buckingham, England, describing it as a positive experience but with little success where he played both on his batting and bowling.

After impressing in both one-day and T20 formats as well as longer-form cricket at grade cricket, the chinaman joined Queensland Bulls for the 2020-21 season. However, his Shield and List-A debuts are still due.

On 11 December 2020, Wood made his big BBL debut for the Heat, against Melbourne Stars to deceive Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dunk in his flight and grab their wickets on debut. The spinner will be playing his second BBL season when he’ll don the Heat blues in BBL|11.
