Player Bio

Cole McConchie is a promising talented cricketer from New Zealand, who is centrally contracted by Canterbury. Born and raised in Christchurch, McConchie is an all-rounder by craft, he is a middle-order batter who plays the role of a finisher and provides control with his off-break bowling.

The all-rounder initially started out as an off-spinner who could bat a bit, but as McConchie and the game progressed, he sharpened his skills to become an asset for his team. Apart from that, he also has a fantastic throwing arm and impressive reflexes in the field, which makes him a complete package.

The Christchurch-based cricketer received his maiden Plunket Shield cap to represent Canterbury in 2012. He had to grind himself domestically in New Zealand and even in England, to earn his maiden international call-up after nine years in 2021. In the United Kingdom, the all-rounder has played for Durham and Hampshire’s second XIs.

Mcconchie had his breakthrough season in 2020-21, where he emerged as the fifth-highest scorer with 298 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 120.16, which helped his district to reach the final.

By August 2021, he has played 43 FC games and over 100 limited-overs games, where he has decent numbers both with bat and ball. He also has leadership experience, having led both New Zealand A and Canterbury. Under his leadership, his district won the Plunket Shield and Ford Trophy titles in 2020-21.

In 2021, Mcconchie was named in the T20I squads for their tour of Bangladesh and their tour of Pakistan, in absence of Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi, which would let him announce his credentials at the highest level.
