Player Bio

Born in Victoria, Cameron White is a former Australia captain, who played four Tests, 91 ODIs, and 47 T20Is.

White made his First-Class debut in the 2000/01 domestic season of Australia. Few years later, he became the youngest captain in the club’s history at the age of 20.

The right-handed batter finally forayed into the international circuit in 2005 in an ODI fixture against ICC World XI.

In his maiden T20I match against England in January 2007, White slammed 40*, took a single wicket, and plucked two catches, earning him a Player of the Match award. However, the Victoria batter could not be named in the squad for the 2007 edition of the T20 World Cup.

Looking at his talent, Royal Challengers Bangalore snapped him for the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008. Later in the same year, he made his Test debut against India.

White’s maiden hundred and career-best score of 105 in the ODIs came against England in September 2009.

The 2011 edition of the 50-over World Cup witnessed him contributing 70 runs in six innings.

After the retirement of Ricky Ponting in the same year, the middle-order batter was given an opportunity to lead the team in both formats. He tasted success in three out of seven assignments.

In the following year, White was dropped from the national team following a slump in form in the Big Bash League.

White last played an ODI fixture in 2014, while making his last appearance in the shortest format in 2018. He finished his career with 3202 runs, laced with two hundreds.
