The Ahmedabad-born gloveman lived his dream of winning the U-19 World Cup title in 2012, and he played a crucial role with the bat in the final recording an unbeaten partnership of 130 runs for the fifth wicket to win the prestigious title for India. In search of more matches as a batsman, Smit became a journeyman in the domestic circuit and decided to call it quits from Indian cricket to pursue his cricketing career in the USA.
