There is no two way about the fact that IPL has helped in the meteoric rise of the youngsters. They have got the chance to rub shoulders with some of the greats of the game which has in turn helped the Indian cricketers immensely. When the tournament began back in 2008, a Hyderabad batsman in his teens was dreaming of playing in the tournament one day and finally at the age of 28 and after a steady first-class career, Bavanaka Sandeep has found the opportunity to play in the cash-rich league. The fact that he has a very impressive record in the domestic circuit finally paid dividends.

In his short domestic career so far, the 28-year-old top-order batsman has scored just over 300 runs at an average close to 45. Sandeep began training at an early age. In his initial days, Sandeep was guided by John Manoj who eventually spotted his talent and went on to give him free coaching lessons. He was earlier part of the St Johns Sports Coaching Foundation in East Marredpally, Secunderabad. Due to his cricketing exploits from an early age, he received a half scholarship in the 4th standard. He got enrolled in his college on the basis of sports quota and owing to his cricketing skills, he is also an Income Tax Inspector.

Sandeep has a pretty sound technique and has also had the ability to smash the ball the long ball. He is an integral part of the Hyderabad since in all 3 domestic formats having made his debut back in 2010. He made an immediate impact in his debut encounter scoring a century. He eventually missed out on a debut 150 by just 6 runs.

Since that eventful debut, he has been scoring runs consistently but hasn’t managed to make it big. The IPL contract will surely give him a lot of confidence but given the set combination of the Sunrisers Hyderabad unit, it will be interesting to see how he molds into their scheme of things. Sandeep was the leading run-scorer for Hyderabad in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy season scoring 400 runs in just 4 classes. He was also part of the India Red squad in the 2018-19 Duleep Trophy.
