Player Bio

A highly skilful spinner, Thilan Walallawita is a Sri Lankan-born professional cricketer for Middlesex County Club. Identified as a future Middlesex star by the head coach and the skipper, Thilan broke into the squad for the Bob Willis Trophy and has been an ever-present member since.

At just 22 years of age, the Colombo-born spinner was handed his maiden cap against Surrey on August 1st, 2020. Thilan had an unforgettable debut in the T20 Blast, as he scalped 3/19 against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

A major setback came crashing his hopes at the start of 2020 when he tore his hamstring and was sidelined from the squad. He gradually progressed and bounced back for the second string of Middlesex in 2021.

The youngster is an accurate finger spinner who can put some pressure on the batters. Still very much in a development phase, Thilan’s got a good skill set and can land the ball wherever he wants. A very mature head on young shoulders, it would be interesting to see what the future beholds for him in the English domestic circuit.
