Player Bio

A classy right-handed batsman and an ever-reliable wicketkeeper for the Boost Region, Munir Ahmad is a professional cricketer for the Afghanistan national team.

Munir made his first-class debut for the Boost Region against Mis Ainak Region on October 26th, 2017, and was the leading scorer with 843 runs in ten matches in the 2017-18 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament. After an impressive debut season, he continued his splendid form into the 2018 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-day Tournament. He led the Boost Region to a victory in the finals with a blazing 108 unbeaten and was awarded the Player of the Match. He won several accolades including the top run-getter of the tournament with 256 runs in six matches.

Since his debut in domestic cricket, he has been stockpiling runs at an impressive average and has been the leading run-scorer in every domestic league he has played.  His dream of representing his country, shaped up when he was picked in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2018 Asia Cup but did not receive the opportunity to obtain his maiden cap. Continuously evolving in the nets with some of the greats, Munir made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in the first match of the series on March 2nd, 2021. His debut was a forgettable one in one-sided domination by Zimbabwe.
