A wily left-arm spin bowler, Kaysia Schultz plays for the West Indies women’s cricket team. Schultz started playing cricket at a very young age and has represented Guyana in the regional Women’s Super50 tournament in the West Indies.
She caught the selectors’ attention during the Guyana Cricket Board Senior female 50-over Inter-County tournament held in 2020. The Guyana-born picked up 6 wickets in three matches, but the talking point was her variations.
Good performances in the regional domestic competitions earned her a maiden international call-up in the West Indies squad for their T20I tour of England in September 2020. However, she did not feature in any game during that series. She was mostly used as a net bowler.
Schultz is relatively new to international cricket. Her aim is to solidify a place in the Windies setup. The orthodox spinner was inspired to become a cricketer when West Indies hosted the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2018, and since then she has vowed to become a role model for the upcoming female cricketers across the world.
