Tom Loten

Tom Loten, a tall all-rounder from York who represents Yorkshire CCC at the county set-up. Taunted to be a future for the county, Loten is a batting all-rounder who is a top-order batsman and a seamer. A 21-year-old youngster found himself under the spotlight when Loten hit an eye-catching 58 on debut, during a heavily rain-affected game against Warwickshire at the end of 2019. 

The York-born is a product of Yorkshire’s age-group system as he has represented the club at Under 13s, 14s and 15s before representing the Academy. He then also played Under 17s county cricket. Loten graduated to make his second-team debut in a Roses friendly in early 2017. The following year, the all-rounder ended with 790 runs and 12 wickets for the academy team, which included standout innings of 131* against Worcestershire. 

Although just after his breakthrough year, the youngster was disrupted by injury with a broken finger. He returned onto the field to make First-Class debut for Yorkshire in the Championship in 2019, before making his List A debut in a Royal London one-day Cup, earlier that year. 

In 2020, the York-born signed a deal with the Prahran club to play grade cricket in Melbourne, but unfortunately, Coronavirus prevented him. Loten then played twice in the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy, though was unable to contribute significantly.

At 22, Loten has a bright future ahead of him, his debut FC half-century a glimpse of the brilliance, if Yorkshire and England cricket invests well in the talent of the all-rounder.
